Menengic Kahvesi is a traditional Turkish coffee made from roasted and ground menengic, also known as terebinth berries, rather than traditional coffee beans. It has a naturally rich, nutty flavour and is often prepared with milk, creating a smooth and comforting drink. This recipe brings out the fragrant roasted flavour of the menengic and makes a cup to enjoy any time of day.

I prefer Menengic Kahve over regular Turkish coffee due to its mellow and calming flavor. If you give this recipe a try, be sure to tag @thereadingtableblog on Instagram. I’d love to see your creations and feature them!

Yields: 1 serving (2 small turkish cups)

Prep time: 1 minutes

Cook time: 3 minutes

Total time: 4 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 scoop of Menengic Kahve powder

  • 1 cup of milk

Equipment:

  • Stirring spoon

  • Mug or cup for drinking

  • Cezve (Turkish Coffee Pot), regular pot also works if you do not own a cezve

Instructions:

  1. In a small pot, pour the milk and add the Menengic Kahve powder. Stir on medium heat until the coffee dissolves and omits a fragrant nutty smell.

  2. Once the coffee mixture is warm to your liking, and the powder has dissolved, take it off the heat and pour into the traditional cups.

  3. Afiyet olsun, enjoy!
